Luckily for ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ the reference didn’t make the cut.
One of the screenwriters on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor took to Twitter to reveal a surprising reference to Thor: Ragnarok which didn’t make the cut.
Following a Twitter trend which saw users reveal ‘confessions’ about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, screenwriter Zack Stentz offered up a surprising new reveal from the first movie starring Chris Hemsworth. Meanwhile in recent news, Natalie Portman arrived in Australia at the beginning of September to supposedly start work on the next sequel directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder.
But according to Zack Stentz, the first film originally featured Hela in an early draft of the script. It saw Volstagg react to the God of Thunder’s coronation with “What the hell!” only for Hela, the Goddess of Death to turn around. Obviously this would’ve ruined things for Taika Waititi’s future film, Thor: Ragnarok. Presumably if the moment had made the cut, Cate Blanchett might not have taken on the role of Hela, so it’s definitely a good thing. Take a look at the screenwriter discussing Chris Hemsworth’s first Marvel film and Thor: Ragnarok below.
In the 1st draft of the script, during Thor’s coronation at one point I had Volstagg blurt out “What the hell!” and Hela turn around & glare at him until he said “Sorry; figure of speech.” Ash made me take out the joke, which is fortunate given the events of Ragnarok…
