Timelapse in Google Earth is a newly launched update from Google, which allows users to explore the planet through 24 million satellite images, which have been collected over the course of 37 years.
Google has compiled all of these photos into an interactive 4D experience. Viewers are invited to watch the world change in front of them, with the timelapse beginning in 1984, and ending in 2020. The experience largely shows the impact humans have on the environment, and how their actions may continue to shape its future.
Those interested in checking out Google’s timelapse experiences can find them through the g.co/TimelapseVideos website, where they can find both 3D and 2D renditions that highlight changes from all over the world.
