Regular players of Fortnite will soon have the option of a subscription to the game which could save them some cash every month as well as securing exclusive in-game items to use.
The subscription is called Fortnite Crew, and according to Epic it’s the “ultimate Fortnite offer.” Launching on Dec. 2, Fortnite Crew will cost $11.99 a month. In return for your cash, Epic is offering full access to each Battle Pass as and when they are made available (usual cost: $10) and 1,000 bonus V-Bucks every month (usual cost: $9.99).
The icing on the subscription cake is monthly Crew Packs, which will include an exclusive outfit bundle that’s yours to keep. Each pack guarantees to have a new outfit and at least one matching accessory (e.g. glider, pickaxe, emote) that isn’t available elsewhere. The first Crew Pack for December will include Galaxia and Style along with the Llamacorn Pickaxe and Fractures World Back Bling.
The Fortnite Crew subscription will be associated with whichever platform you purchase it on and isn’t transferable, so if you purchase it on PlayStation you can’t access the content on Xbox or Switch, for instance. Epic therefore advises players to select their purchase platform “carefully.” It’s a bit more complicated with the bonus V-Bucks. If you get them on PlayStation or Switch they can’t be spent on other platforms, but any content purchased with the V-Bucks can be transferred as they are linked to your Fortnite account, not the platform.
If you want to sign up for Fortnite Crew, simply visit the Item Shop or Battle Pass purchase screen on your platform of choice and it should appear as an option from Dec. 2. If you’ve already purchased the current season’s Battle Pass, Epic will return 950 V-Bucks to your account once the Crew subscription is activated. Cancelling the subscription is also easy, simply visit the Fortnite Crew tab that will be available once the subscription service goes live.
