Rob Liefeld talks Deadpool 3 and why there should be a solo Cable movie franchise.
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld recently talked about the possibility of a third Ryan Reynolds Deadpool film and why there should be a solo Cable film with Josh Brolin.
Rob Liefeld was one of the biggest comic book writers and artists in the early 90s thanks to his work on series like The New Mutants and X-Force. Today he is best known as the co-creator of Deadpool and Cable. Both characters appeared in the latest Deadpool film, Deadpool 2, and were portrayed by Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin. Unfortunately, the Disney acquisition of Fox has cast some doubt on whether or not a third film will happen. But now, Rob Liefeld seemed to have made peace with this.
In the past, the Deadpool creator has blasted Marvel Studios and Disney for the fact that nothing seems to be happening with Deadpool 3. While speaking with Collider, the artist now seems to be okay with the fact that we’ve only had two films and is proud of what they were able to do on those two movies:
“You know what? There may not be another Deadpool, and I’m fine. Because I have to live with the fact that I had two amazing experiences, two movies I’m extremely proud of, I love knowing everybody on those movies. I love Ryan [Reynolds], Josh [Brolin], Zazie [Beets], David [Leitch], Tim Miller. All of them. The work they did was fantabulous, those movies are here to stand the test of time. You know, but in the world we live in, nothing is guaranteed. And it takes a lot to make movies. And post-quarantine, it’s weird.”
When asked if Josh Brolin’s Cable should have his own solo film apart from Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, Rob Liefeld was all for the idea:
“Cable should have his own movie series. He can exist independent of Deadpool in a heartbeat. He has for years. If Deadpool’s been in like 330 comics, Cable’s been in about 520. Yes, I’ve counted…. In between Deadpool 2 wrapping and opening, I got really close with Josh. And he was very excited about exploring Cable in the subsequent sequels. The X-Force standalone movie that was, in his own words, Cable-centric.”
What do you all make of Rob Liefeld’s words? Would you be okay if they never made another Ryan Reynolds Deadpool film? Would you like to see a solo Cable film with Josh Brolin? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Josh Brolin’s Cable last appeared in Deadpool 2. Here is the plot synopsis for the film:

Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
Directed by David Leitch from a script written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, and Jack Kesy.
