Ben Affleck was very open to reprising the role when the producers approached him.
One of the producers of Ezra Miller’s The Flash has revealed that Ben Affleck was surprisingly open to reprising his role as Batman.
Earlier today we all received a massive shock when it was revealed that Ben Affleck would be reprising his role as Batman for Ezra Miller’s upcoming film, The Flash. What made it so surprising to many was just how adamant Ben Affleck seemed to be that he was done with the role. He would later explain that he backed away from the role due to concerns for his sobriety and that, over the course of the three DC films, he had lost his passion for the role. But now it seems that the actor is in a much better place mentally and is up to reprise the role of the Caped Crusader.
During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, one of the producers of Ezra Miller’s The Flash, Barbara Muschietti, revealed that Ben Affleck was surprisingly open to reprising the role of Batman for the upcoming film, speculating that he is in a much better place then he was when he originally left the role:
“There have been some all sorts of stories and things he said himself about having a very hard time playing Batman, and it had been difficult for him. I think it was more about a difficult time in his life. When we approached him, he’s now in a very different time in his life. He was very open to it, which was a bit of a surprise to us. It was a question mark.”
What do you all make of the producer’s words? Are you surprised to hear that Ben Affleck was so open to returning to the role of Batman for Ezra Miller’s The Flash? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash will be inspired by the Flashpoint comic storyline which followed The Flash as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles. It is currently unknown how much inspiration the upcoming Ezra Miller film will take from the comic.
The Flash is set to hit theaters on June 3rd, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Ben Affleck’s role as Batman in The Flash and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
