Animated ‘Game Of Thrones’ Series In The Works For HBO Max

Another Game of Thrones project is in the works!

An animated Game of Thrones series is reportedly in the works for HBO Max as WarnerMedia continues to develop more projects based on the successful series.

Game of Thrones might have ended two years ago, but HBO has a ton of plans for where the franchise will go in the future. While a pilot starring Naomi Watts didn’t work out, the network is moving forward with House of the Dragon, which is gearing up for filming soon. It was also revealed last week that a series centered based on the Tales of Dunk and Egg is also in development.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO Max is also developing an animated series set in the Game of Thrones universe. The report states that the series will be geared towards adults as the network is currently meeting with writers for the series. This all comes as it was also reported earlier this week that WarnerMedia is also looking to develop a live-action series set in Harry Potter‘s Wizarding World to compete with Disney Plus’ massive Star Wars and Marvel line-up.

Here is the synopsis for House of the Dragon:

Based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, the series will tell the story of House Targaryen (a.k.a. the House that gave us the Mother of Dragons herself, Daenerys Targaryen) and take place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik will serve as the showrunner with Martin and Ryan Condal. House of the Dragon stars Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, and Paddy Considine.
