Science and Hollywood Collide in “COSMOS: POSSIBLE WORLDS”

OMG! My inner science geek is about to explode! Wait! Hold on while I catch my breath! Ok, FOX and National Geographic just released a first look trailer of the new season of COSMOS! I know right?

Now, just in case you’ve been under a rock and have never watched the show, COSMOS is part science, part futurist, part other dimensional deep space odyssey-eye-candy hosted by the super cool astrophysicist and my personal space hero, Neil deGrasse Tyson. Um, yeah, black people can be astrophysicists and cool at the same time, duh. Executive produced by funnyman Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, THE ORVILLE), Brannon Braga (THE ORVILLE, COSMOS: A SPACETIME ODYSSEY, TERRA NOVA) and Jason Clark ( THE ORVILLE, COSMOS: A SPACETIME ODYSSEY), the new season, COSMOS: POSSIBLE WORLDS, is a 13-part series, helmed by Emmy Award-winning creator/director/writer/executive producer, Ann Druyan. Yes ya’ll, a woman space geek! Contain yourself there’s more! COSMOS is the most-watched series E-V-E-R on National Geographic Channels internationally and has been seen by more than 135 million people worldwide on FOX and Nat Geo. The new season is set to premiere on FOX and Nat Geo in March 2019.

The irony of the team who brought this project to life hasn’t been lost on this writer. No way! It plays like the beginning of a bad joke, “A black guy, a comedian, and a science chick walk into a bar…”. But the magic that Tyson, MacFarlane and Druyan have created as COSMOS has introduced science, physics and beyond-video-games curiosity that transcends race, gender or politics. So what’s COSMOS: POSSIBLE WORLDS all about Alfie? Well, prepare to be transported to the outermost recesses of the universe, dramatically that is. A place where there’s no Donald Trump, a journey through the lives of unforgotten but crucial searchers who have scoured the universe, space and time to understand who, when and where we are as humans in the cosmos. Now, this ain’t your mama’s science class! Oh no! Instead, this is an artfully created, science-based, television series that takes an in-depth look at alternate planes of existence and questions whether humans are ready for first-contact with other forms of intelligent life. I just got goosebumps! Neil deGrasse Tyson, who is my version of sexy geeky, provides a calming, inquisitive yet optimistic narration as he guides us through COSMOS. Visually stunning and intellectually stimulating, COSMOS: POSSIBLE WORLDS is destination viewing.

Indeed, the appeal to a new generation of dreamers is what makes COSMOS: POSSIBLE WORLDS a reality. So, go binge-watch previous episodes of COSMOS on FOX or National Geographic Channel and prepare your mind for a new epic season to launch March 2019. Personally, I would wait just so that I could see what type of tie Neil deGrasse Tyson will wear! I L-O-V-E the tie with planets! My shallowness aside, COSMO: POSSIBLE WORLDS is sure to be deep in substance and wonder. I can’t wait!
